Script
- The Persian script add four glyphs to the Arabic: چ پ ژ گ (ch, p, zh, g)
- ث , ص , س all sound like s
- ز , ض , ذ , ظ all sound like z
Grammar
- subordinating ke: که (which, that)
- yes/no question: آیا (âyâ)
- accusative is marked with را (râ ) after the object noun phrase
- SOV: (S) (O + را) (PP) (V)
- indefinite article یک (yek) / یه (ye)
- definite article
- lack of indefinite article (literary language)
- suffix: ـه -e (urban) or -a (rural)
- plural only used in definite form and not with numbers
- inanimate: ها (-hâ)
- animate: ـان (-ân)
- arabic words commonly use arabic plurals
- Ezāfe: genitive construction marked with unstressed short vowel between words:
- e or -i
- -ye or -yi after vowels
